Comédie! An interactive fiction by Edgar Havre* * * * GUIDE * * * ver.1E This guide is a walktrough : this means it contains spoilers... Comedy is a short IF. This means that using shortcuts might even shorten your experience! Please keep that in mind as you use this guide. On the other hand, I truly understand what the language gap might be as an IF reader. So, this guide is mainly supposed to help the non french-speaking players to go further into the game without being blocked by the language. This being said, I must say again that Comedy is a short game and it says less than what I wanted. Explanations about what I wanted to do with this game are important to me and will accompany the game as soon as possible (given anonimity). If you're interested, please come back when the French Comp' is over, to learn a bit more about what I wanted to do. Before that, I must thank you a lot for taking part into this Competition. Now, to the game! 1. Here you are, at the entrance of the Theater. Looks like this bouncer won't let you go in like that. To go through, you'll need to say more about who you are. So, you'll need to learn about yourself. Look among your things. 2. In the Hall. Ok, there you are. Now, explore a bit. 3. In the corridor. Looks like you met Ernest! Now, the best thing to do might be to go and meet Mr Barnier, as adviced. But you can explore the place if you prefer. Look to the map if you're lost. 4. The Director's office. Now talk to Mr. Barnier. Ok, he's not here. Try the door, at the back. Be gentle, offer your help. He invites you to see his Stage manager and his main actor. Choose which one you prefer. 5. The Stage manager's office This office is quite a mess. The Stage manager, Rita, needs your help. The old Director's assistant shuffled everything in the wardrobe. The costume you're looking for is the #77. Go and find it! 6. Into the wardrobe Enter it. Ok, it is a shitty mess. But there's a logic inside it, try to find it out. It might be *really* helpful to draw a map of that wardrobe. 7. Back to Rita Ok, you brought the costume back to Rita's office. But it looks like it's not the one she was looking for. Go back to the wardrobe and try to shuffle it. This means, try to redraw the map but differently. Try to mirror it, more precisely. 8. A precious help Here you go! You found the right costume and gave it to Rita. Let's announce this to Mr. Barnier, who'll be delighted. 9. Relson needs you Mr. Barnier still needs some help. Remember, the main actor? Go and find him, and chat a bit with him. He seems to be quite depressed. Ok, let's go and find something to make him feel better. Mr. Ernest, the groom, will help you with that. He gives you a key to the supply room. Now, you must find what you're looking for. But what are you looking for, by the way? Think about what might motivate Relson... Think about what Mr. Barnier told you about him... Think about a present... Think about... a bottle! Right, take it and bring it to him. Now he's ok to make some effort for the play, go and announce it to Mr. Barnier. 10. Toward the première Now that everything is settled, Mr. Barnier doesn't look like he still needs you... So just leave for now. ... He finally needs a bit of help. Do what he tells you and you'll go further... ** Epilogue ** Let me add a little something... The end might feel a bit tricky, and the twist might be disappointing. I need to emphasize that this end is not supposed to frustrate you or to cheat with you as an IF player. It is not here because I lacked time, neither. I would have loved to make a longer IF, really, but the end would have been quite the same in this case as well. This twist and the frustration have a purpose and are supposed to mean something. But this is where I send you back to the beginning of this guide : explanations will come after the competition, because I'm afraid it would break the anonimity... This being said, I hope you had fun playing my IF, and I thank you A LOT for doing it! I'm sorry for the bugs and typos, and I hope they didn't break the mood... Feel free to share ANY feedback you'll like, I would really love it! *To be continued...*
